TIPS ON BUYING A FREEZE DRYER
Wow!
This Sounds Expensive. Is Their Any Way to Reduce These Service
Calls?
Yes.
Over 85% of all Service Calls can be attributed to the Refrigeration
Systems. When these components are replaced with new or rebuilt,
you can reduce the amount of required service by 70%. It's
a fact. A used Freeze Dryer equipped with new compressors
and upgraded refrigeration components generally will require
less service than a new Freeze Dryer on which the Warranty
(One Year) has just expired. You get one service call instead
of six.
When
these factors are mated with an efficient, optimum Freeze
Drying cycle, one which produces the result needed without
overtaxing the lyophililizer components, both utility costs
and service visits are kept to a minimum.
If
the Freeze Dryer isn't running, should I take It out of consideration
as a possibility for my use ?
It's
always preferable to be able to perform test runs on any equipment
you may be evaluating for purchase, but it does not mean that
you should not consider units that have been properly decommissioned
and placed in storage. The majority of used Freeze Dryers
offered for sale are in non-running condition. Many firms
will offer a money back guarantee if the Freeze Dryer does
not meet your requirements. Be aware that these offers are
not entirely cost free to the purchaser. Shipping and Insurance,
both for delivery and return of the unit are generally charged
to the buyer. Electrical and Utility hook up must be added
to these expenses. In addition, the cost of removal and loading,
requiring the services of a rigger ( For example, a 24 sq.
ft. Freeze Dryer will weigh more than 5000 lbs) to perform
the truck loading will be added to these costs. A far more
viable method is to pay for an independent appraisal of the
unit by firms who specialize in Freeze Dryer rebuilding and
refurbishment. In addition to providing a fair market value
for the Freeze Dryer, these firms can provide a Warranty of
use for your product protocols, plus delivery and installation
in your location. The appraisal cost is far less than the
cost of returning the Freeze Dryer to the seller if it is
unacceptable.
